John Asbell Obituary

John Carl Asbell was born on May 27, 1958, to Robert Eugene Asbell, Sr. and Beverly June Asbell in Kansas City, Kansas. He passed away on April 13, 2024, in Dallas Texas. 

John graduated from Turner High School in 1976. After graduating, John enlisted in the United States Navy that same year. He dedicated 22 years to defending the nation's honor before retiring in 1998. Upon his retirement from the United States Navy, he went on to enjoy a career at L3 Harris Technologies until his retirement in 2017.

Among many hobbies, John enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and lawn care. Affectionately known as “Johnny” to those who knew him well. John went on to unite in holy matrimony with Pamela Kaye Cunningham on September 2, 1991.

Devoted to his faith, John was an active member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God and was strong in his religious beliefs. He contributed to his community by being involved with the church. He will be remembered for his caring, generous, tenacious, trustworthy, and loyal nature. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

John’s most significant achievement was his four decades of dedicated service to his country, a testament to his unwavering commitment.

John was preceded in death by his father, Robert Eugene Asbell, Sr., and sister, Laura June McMillian. Those left to cherish lasting memories include his wife, Pamela Kaye Asbell; his daughter, Ruth Ann Riddell; his mother, Beverly June Asbell; his grandson, Dylan Melancon; his brother, Robert Eugene Asbell, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Teresa Hayes; his nieces - Bethany Boehm, Rachel Swenson, and Sarah Mondragon; his nephews, Eric Asbell and Charlie Rollins; his dear friend, Carlos Delgado; and a host of relatives and friends.
