Shirley Jean (Cannon) Bledson was born on June 6, 1949, to Willie Tucker and Rebecca Cannon in Greenwood, Mississippi. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on September 18, 2022, in Richardson. Texas.
Affectionally regarded as "Shu" by her siblings and "Nana" and "Granny" by her grandchildren, Shirley graduated from Threadgill High School in 1967. She went on to attend Delta College in Saginaw, Michigan. After she relocated to Dallas, Texas, she enjoyed a longtime career at Parkland Health Clinic in Garland, Texas, until her retirement in 2011.
Among many hobbies, Shirley delighted in traveling and spending time with her family. She loved her family and was a wonderful and loving mother.
Shirley accepted Christ at an early age. She was a longtime, faithful member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served under the leadership of the late Dr. R. E. Price, Sr. and later under the leadership of Dr. Tommy L. Brown. She was a part of the Senior Saints Ministry, and she served with the Culinary Ministry and Usher Board Ministry.
Shirley will be fondly remembered for her caring, sweet, compassionate, and gentle nature. Her kind spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Tucker and Rebecca (Cannon) Gray, and her brother, Marvin Green.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her children - Earl Cannon, Quentin Bledson, and Portia Bledson; siblings - Debra King, Rosemary Mauldin, Teresa Cosey, Harold Cannon, and Walter Green; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
