Betty Smith Obituary

Betty was born on December 20, 1936, in Porterville, California. She transitioned on January 23, 2018, in Mesquite, Texas, at age 81.

One of five children born to J.B. Brooks and Helen Milienewicz Brooks, Betty spent most of her life in California until she relocated to Rowlett to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, she enjoyed a longtime career in home health care until her retirement.

Among many hobbies and interest, Betty delighted in shopping and dining at IHOP. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her parents; several siblings; and daughter, Betty Louise Riley. Those left to cherish fond memories include her daughter, Beverly Besherse of Rowlett, TX; son, Toby Ray Owens of Oklahoma; son, Steve Owens of California; daughter, Linda Skelton of California; son, James Allen Stackhouse of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jerry Brooks.
