Claudette Carter was born on January 5, 1960, in Hollandale, Mississippi, to the parentage of Dorothy Carter and William "June" Thompson. Surrounded by her family, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on December 20, 2017, in Carrollton, Texas, at age 57.
As a young child, Claudette was introduced to Christ. She held on to her strong faith throughout her life.
Affectionately known as "Cookie" by all who loved her, Claudette graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. She went on to attend Kennedy King College and Parkland College in Champaign, Urbana, where she received her associate's degree. Claudette enjoyed a career as a homemaker in healthcare.
Claudette was a faithful member of Living Word Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Sharp in Garland, Texas. She loved everyone with whom she came in contact; she was the life of the party; she never met a stranger.
Preceded in death by her father and brother, Tony Smith. Those left to cherish precious memories include:
Her children: Michael Coleman (Tayanna Brown), Shony Coleman (Chrissy), Tammecia Coleman, Kenosha Billingsley (Michael Strickland), Robert Billingsley, Jr., Deante Billingsley, Marquis Billingsley, Jarrell Billingsley, and Tezrah Billingsley (Josh);
Her grandchildren: Anisha Coleman, Davion Watson, Tammia Moore, Deandre Moore, Tayshawn Coleman, Aya Billingsley, Aniya Billinglsey, and Kade Billingsley-Givens;
Her mother, Dorothy Carter;
Her siblings: Annette Evans Smith (Edward), Debra Carter, Zelda Carter, Patricia Adams, Helen Thomas (Marie), Anthony Thomas, Andrea Thomas, and Bryant Thomas;
Her aunt, Patricia "Tish Ann" Gibbs; and
Special family: Velma Houston, Oriana Houston, Cora-Jean Lucas, Jalonny Billingsley, Gayester Rogers, and Jacoby Hoskins;
And a host of other relatives and friends.
