Cordelia Jones was born on October 4, 1934, in Dallas, Texas. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on October 26, 2018, in Dallas, Texas, at age 84.
Cordelia attended Booker T. Washington High School. She went on to enjoy a lifelong career in floor management at the Zale Corporation. After approximately 30 years of service, she retired.
Cordelia was a lifelong faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at an early age. Cordelia sang in the choir, served on the usher ministry and other ministries. She was also a part of "The Gloryettes", a community music ensemble which began at Mt. Pisgah.
In 1955, Cordelia married the love of her life, Arthur C. Jones. The two remained united until his transition in July of 1990.
Cordelia, affectionately known by many as “Aunt Coty” will be remembered as a great cook, her love of travel, her straightforward nature, strong approach to discipline, wisdom, and love for her family. Cordelia will truly be missed by the many she welcomed in her home for almost 60 years. Her home was often the gathering location for family, fellowship, friends and loved ones as she believed FAMILY was everything.
Cordelia was predeceased by her parents, Andrew Anderson, Sr. and Elizabeth Bell Clark Anderson; husband, Arthur C. Jones; son, Donald Ray Jones; and siblings: Andrew Anderson, Jr., Amanda Monroe Garrett, and Willie Earl Anderson. Those left to cherish precious memories include her daughter, Sharon Grant; son, Arthur "Ricky" Biggins; grandchildren: Don Michael Anderson, Marc Anderson, Roni Anderson Grant, Demetria Jones, Michael Quincy Jones, Erica Biggins, LaChandra Biggins, and Keshon Biggins; sister, Inez Terrell; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
