Deborah Ann Friar was born on August 11, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She transitioned to eternity on September 14, 2019, at age 66.
Deborah graduated from Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi. She went on to attend Del Mar College where she earned an Associate's Degree. From Corpus Christi to San Antonio to Dallas, Deborah enjoyed a longtime career in retail management with JCPenney. After almost 40 years of dedicated service, she retired.
Among many hobbies, Deborah enjoyed fashion and loved to model. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling, stand-up comedy shows, working in her yard, eating Mexican food, and watching reality television. She was the family cheek-biter, and a beloved fun and cool aunt. A remarkable manager who truly delighted in developing people and being an example, Deborah was selfless, dedicated, wise, persistent, and independent. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her father, William E. Roland, Sr.; mother, Lola Mae White Roland; brother, Williams E. Roland, Jr.; and nieces and nephews: James Washington, Jr., Twila Mouttet, Mia Washington, Gerald Woodson, and Preston Dixon.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her only child, Tanasha Friar; grandson, Jacob A. Colón; sisters, Betty Jo Dawson and Willie Ann Woodson; sister-in-law, Nettie Roland; nieces and nephews: Ronald Washington (Vanessa), Tamara Ina, Kelly Woodson, Vernon "Chico" Dixon, Roland Woodson, Bobbie Jean Langston (Ivan), Pamela Brown (James), Amanda Owolabi (Dami), Jalmar "Niecy" Woodson, William E. Roland III, and Miranda Roland; several great-nieces and great-nephews; special family friends: Debbie Adams, Beatrice "Penny" Gardner, and Leroy Morrow; and a host of cousins and dear friends.
