Elouise Grady Stovall Woods was born on November 10, 1925, to Ernest Grady, Sr. and Velma Breaud Grady in St. James Parish, Lousiana. One of eight children born to this union, she transitioned to eternity on June 3, 2018, in Richardson, Texas, at age 92.
Elouise graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She went on to become a Nurse Aide at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she retired after 35 years of service. Her work ethic was remarkably strong.
Affectionately regarded as "Grandma" by her grandchildren, Elouise had many hobbies, including cooking, Bingo, traveling, and dancing. She was also an avid New Orleans Saints fan. Until she relocated to Richardson to reside with her daughter, Elouise was a member of Gloryland Mt. Gillion Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Mount Era Baptist Church in Morgan City, Louisiana, where her son, Rev. Norman A. Stovall is the pastor. Upon her move to Richardson, she united, with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Isaiah Joshua.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur James Woods, all her siblings: Irma, Marguerite, Mildred, Ernest, Jr., Marshall, Hazel, and Ruby; son in law, Ferdinand Glapion, Jr.; and grand son, Byron Glapion, Sr. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Patricia Wilson (Clarence), Rev. Norman A. Stovall (Katherine), Jeanne Glapion, Gaynell Stovall, and Danette Joy Morrison (Derrick); grandchildren: Eugene Dabney, Wyanda Dabney, Lisa Holley (Heriod), Theresa Stovall, Mark Dabney (Tenisha), Brian Wilson, Sr., Ferdinand Glapion, III (Ronica), Nicole Stovall, Natasha Essien (Richard), Brittany Wilson (Antwan), Jovante' Morrison, Derrianna Morrison, and Derriane Morrision; goddaughter, Brenda King; special niece, Karen Washington; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
