Gregory Carl Callahan was born September 16, 1967 to the parentage of James and Shirley Callahan. He accepted Christ early in life and spoke of God’s goodness, as he was “Born Again”. He made his transition on July 23, 2014.
Greg, as he was affectionately called, attended school in the Richardson Independent School District from elementary to high school. He also attended Prairie View A&M University where he majored in engineering and played on the baseball team. In all stages of his education, he was an outstanding athlete in soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. At the time of his transition, he coached little Bobcats in the Hamilton Park Community. He loved and respected his players and their families. He not only wanted them to win in sports, but also in life - doing the right things, believing and trusting in God, and staying in school. He was a great motivator, and he loved life and his family.
Preceding him in transition were his grandfather, Wornet Cole ("Papa"); grandmother, Louise Cole ("Big Mama"); and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Callahan. Those left to mourn his transition include his mother, Shirley Callahan; daughter, Samaria; two grandchildren; sister, Kymbly Callahan; niece, Kortni Callahan; great nephew, Taylor Maddox; aunt, Barbara Callahan; and special aunt, Elgie Minor. He also leaves those very special to his heart: Amanda, Brock, and Hunter; and a host of other loved ones, relatives, and friends.
