Iris Lee Lurks was born on May 24, 1950, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on December 4, 2018, in Garland, Texas, at age 68.
Iris graduated from Killeen High School in 1968. She worked at Kraft Foods for a brief time. She went on to enjoy a longtime career in the banking industry. Among several mortgage companies, she worked for Countrywide and Nations. She retired from Greenpoint Mortgage.
Iris was a faithful member of Greater El Bethel Church of God in Christ in Garland where she served under the leadership of Superintendent Anthony McCrary, Sr. She served as vice president of First Lady Aide Group (FLAG) and was always a very supportive and dependable member of the group.
Affectionately regarded as "Granny" by her grandchildren, Iris enjoyed watching country westerns and traveling. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and adoring her grandchildren.
Iris was predeceased by her parents, Sidney Lee and Orgree Evans; brother, Sidney Lee, Jr.; and husband, Thomas Lurks, who predeceased her on February 11, 2018. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Mark Evans and his wife, Lori, Glynn Roberts, and Justice Bedell and her husband, Ryan; grandchildren: Jennessa Hoppert, Grant Roberts, Jentry Hoppert, Graham Roberts, and Griffin Roberts; sister, Pamela Daniel; special niece, Jacqueline Morrison; family friend, Andre "DC" Morrison; and a host of other relatives and friends.
