James Polk was born in Waxahachie, Texas, on June 12, 1949. He transitioned in Garland, Texas, on September 16, 2019, at age 70.
James graduated from Waxahachie High School. He went on to attend college at Brantley Draughon Business School. James retired from Pitney Bowes Management Services after many years of service.
James accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a member of Abundant Life Church where he was known as "The Roving Greeter". He delighted working Vacation Bible School each year at Abundant Life.
A hard-working and gentle soul with an incredible smile and love for family time, James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who also raised him, John Wesley and Gertie Polk; parents, Johnny Lee "Boots" Polk and Addie Bell Perry Franklin; aunts: Ruby Tunson, Ruthie Irving, and Margurite Jones; sister, Carolyn Ealim; and cousins: Walter "Peaches" Tunson, Carlos "Spank" Irving, and Jimmie Jones. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife of 48 years, Linda Polk; daughter, Collette LaShea Polk; son, Brian Wesley Polk; grandchildren, Aaron Branch and Avery Valentine; great-grandchildren, Ayden Valentine and Aaron Noah Branch; sisters, Brenda Harris (David) and Olivia Piper; brother, Jeoffrey Williams (Angela); niece, Danielle Harris; nephew, David Harris, Jr.; special cousin, Carolyn Ruth Pittman (Ronnie); and a host of cousins and friends.
