John Ford, Jr. Obituary

John Henry Ford, Jr. was born on June 29, 1953, to John Henry Ford, Sr. and Lonnie Mae Montgomery Ford in Warner Robins, Georgia. Surrounded by his loving family, he transitioned to eternity with his Lord and Savior on November 9, 2019, in Garland, Texas.

John left Georgia as a child and settled in Cleveland, Ohio, with his family. At a young age, he accepted Christ at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He attended East High School and went on to begin a longtime career in the automotive industry with Ford Motor Company on April 19, 1973, in Brook Park, Ohio. After almost 38 years of service with Ford, John retired in June of 2007.

In 1972, he met the love of his life, Gladies Sales. The two united in holy matrimony on July 20, 1974, and four children were born to this union: two boys and two girls. John and Gladies remained united for 45 years until his transition.

Growing up with a father in the military, John learned to enjoy traveling. In November of 1997, John and his family moved from Cleveland to Lorain, Ohio. In Lorain, he attended Cathedral of Praise. In October of 2014, he and Gladies moved from Lorain to Garland, Texas. The two, along with their children, enjoyed domestic and world-wide travels. Among many hobbies, John also enjoyed fishing, casinos, and cooking. He will be fondly remembered for his BBQ, chocolate cakes, and banana pudding pie.

Affectionately regarded as "Junior" by his loving wife and "Grandpa" and "Anpaw" by his grandchildren, John was indeed a family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Ford and Clifford Ford. Those left to cherish precious memories include his loving and devoted wife, Gladies; four children: Tamara Nelson (Stacey) of Rowlett, Texas, John Henry Ford III of Cleveland, Ohio, Jeremy Ford of Lorain, Ohio, and Sheena Ford of Mesquite, Texas; grandson who he raised as his own child from six-weeks-old, Jeremy Ford, Jr.; 24 other grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who he loved dearly; siblings: Patricia Dorroh (Robert) of Cleveland, Ohio, Michelle Wilson of Lorain, Ohio, Joy McClendon of Akron, Ohio, and Diane Ford of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends.
