Johnnye Okoli was born on September 11, 1959, to Johnnie Gene Grant and Inez Bradford in Hayti, Missouri. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on February 20, 2018, at age 58.
Johnnye graduated from Blytheville High School in Blytheville, Arkansas, in 1977. After marrying and birthing her daughters, she pursued her vocation in healthcare at Cotton Boll School of Nursing where she earned her license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). Johnnye worked in healthcare for almost 30 years before retiring.
Johnnye was a longtime member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where she learned and served under the leadership of Pastor Leonard O. Leach. She truly enjoyed her Sunday School class. Johnnye most delighted in spending time with her grandchildren who regarded her as "Granny". Sociable. Lively. Funny. Caring. Nurturing. Johnnye will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents. Those left to cherish precious memories include her daughters, Torye Grant-Bolden and her husband, Adron, and Kelsey Yarbrough; grandchildren, Jajuan Howard and Kelton James Hightower; siblings: Mary White, Linda Burton, Ruby Leverson and her husband, Jerry, and Vickie Booker; and a host of other relatives and friends.
