Joseph Lervin James, Jr. was born on March 12, 1967, in Houston, Texas. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on February 28, 2018, in Richardson, Texas, at age 50.
A graduate of Bastrop High School in Bastrop, Louisiana, Joseph went on to enlist in the United States Air Force and served his country from 1986 to 1999. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Joseph was a Senior Principal Multi-Disciplined Engineer at Raytheon where he worked for almost 19 years until his transition.
Affectionately regarded as "Joe" by family and friends, Joseph enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered for the many gatherings he hosted in his home. A master chef in his own right, Joseph delighted in boasting of his signature gumbo which he looked forward to serving each New Year. He most delighted in studying God's word.
Joseph was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as an associate minister, sang in the Male Chorus, and taught Men's Bible Study for many years. He also cooked and catered for various ministries and church events. A genuine minister at heart, Joseph also served as a service ambassador and Chaplain at Chamberland Funerals & Cremations. He thoroughly enjoyed serving others.
