Juan Lou Banks was born on November 28, 1934, in Garland, Texas. He transitioned to eternity on June 11, 2019, at age  84.

Juan attended Garland Colored School in Garland and Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas. He went on to enjoy a career working in distribution at Kraft Foods for 25 years until he retired. At a young age, Juan accepted Christ and was baptized at Sims Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Affectionately regarded as "Juan L.", he delighted in playing pool, visiting the casino, playing baseball, and caring for his truck and car about which he was very particular.
