Louisa "Coot" Lockett Fowler was born on June 3, 1929, in Marietta, Texas, to R.H. Lockett and Eugenia Henderson Lockett. She was the oldest of 11 children born to this union. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on October 6, 2019, in Dallas, Texas, at age 90.
Louisa attended school in Marietta. She went on to be employed by Methodist Hospitals of Dallas.
She married Moses Fowler, and three beautiful daughters were reared in this union. The two remained united in marriage until Moses' transition in 2012.
Affectionately regarded as "Coot" by her family, Louisa was a member of True Light Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Rev. Paul W. Pope for many years. She also attended Remnant of Faith Church under the leadership of Pastor Lorenzo Plater. At the time of her transition, she was a member of God's House Redeemed Ministries Full Gospel Pentecostal Church where her son-in-law, Bishop Gary Carter, serves as pastor. She was a faithful member and giver who loved to praise God.
Louisa was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Patricia Fowler; grandson-in-law, Joseph James; siblings: Annie Ponds, Delois Taylor, Martha Lockett, Darlene Bell, Novell Ligans, Bonice Lockett, Calvin Lockett, and R.L. Lockett. Those left to cherish precious memories include her daughter, Mary Smith (Danny); daughter, Pamela Carter (Gary); grandchildren: Karen "Sheila" Farrar (John), Trina James, Kedrick Fowler (Lakolya), Edrick Fowler (Lora), Darius Fowler (Tina), Olen Bursey (Shenelle), and Markita Bursey; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Virginia Abbs, Ervin Lockett, Minnie Faye Scott, and Nadel Henderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
