Marquel Antoine Ellis, Jr. was born on February 17, 2003, in Garland, Texas. He tragically transitioned on November 16, 2019, in Allen, Texas.
Fierce competitor. Kindhearted. Caring. Determined. Energetic. Humble. Athletic.
Affectionately regarded as "ManMan", Marquel attended J.H. Florence Elementary School and Vernon Price Elementary School in Mesquite Independent School District. He attended O'Banion Middle School in Garland Independent School District for sixth and seventh grades, and graduated from Ford Middle School in Allen Independent School District. He went on to attend Allen High School where he played football and basketball. A star athlete destined for a promising college and professional career in sports, Marquel was loved by all who crossed his path, including athletes and students from other school districts. He will be greatly missed by his family, teammates, coaches, teachers, and friends.
Among many hobbies, Marquel loved football and basketball. He also delighted in traveling, fashion and shopping. He was especially fascinated with shoes. He took pride in his appearance, from head to toe, and was pleased to be an example of fashion to others.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Blena Roberts. Those left to cherish precious memories include his father, Marquel Ellis, Sr.; mother, Jocelyn Maduagwu; sister, Jadasia Ellis; brother, Micah Ellis; sister, Chanel Ellis; brother, Maliq Ellis; grandparents: Lawrence Ellis, Sr. (Lorna), Felita Givens Ellis, and Cyril Maduagwu (Christina); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
