Mrylene was born to the parentage of Earnest and Odessa Collins on November 22, 1938, in Fair Play, Texas. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at her residence in Mesquite, Texas.
On May 4,1953, she married her late husband, Carl R. Means, in Garland,Texas. There, she resided for more than 50 years. Two remained married until his passing.
Mrylene accepted Christ at a young age. She united with Sims Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in 1966.
She attended Fair Play Texas Public School. She later attended Garland High School, and received her G.E.D. She continued her education and received an occupational and physical therapy diploma. In her early years, she cleaned houses. For more than 30 years, she worked at Richardson Independent School District as a pastry cook.
Mrylene loved children and loved to lend a helping hand. She always had an open ear, an open heart, and encouraging words for anyone who crossed her path.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Collins and Odessa Collins Dansby; husband, Carl Ray Means; two sisters, Fannie Mae Collins and Dottie Collins; three brothers: Authur James Collins, Henry Collins, and Clarence Collins; and two step-sons, Author Toney and Dwight Peterson.
Mrylene will be forever cherished and remembered by her daughters: Carolyn Gardner (William) of Mesquite, Texas, Lora Means Fowler (Edrick) of Carrollton, Texas, and Denise Noble (James) of Rowlett, Texas; one sister, Fannie Ruth Love of Garland, Texas; five grandchildren: Ricky Means of Dallas, Texas, Maurice Hannon (Dureka) of Kaufman, Texas, Rolanda Hannon Butler (James) of Garland, Texas, Rekeitha Hobbs of Dallas, Texas, and Tamora Noble of Rowlett, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
