Pearlene Marie (West) Higgins

Pearlene Marie Higgins was born on December 22, 1950, in Kilburn, Louisiana. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on March 7, 2018, in Dallas, Texas, at age 67.
 
In 1970, Pearlene graduated from G.C. Johns High School in Eudora, Arkansas. She went on to graduate from Delta Beauty School for Cosmetology in Greenville, Mississippi. She later continued her education at Dudley Cosmetology University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Confident, humble, passionate, and ambitious, Pearlene owned Creative Hair Image Salon and Barber for 15 years.
 
Pearlene united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Johnnie Higgins, Jr., on February 20, 1971. To their union, five beautiful children were born. The two remained married for 47 years until her transition.
 
Affectionately regarded as “Mawmaw” by her babies and "Baby Girl" by her siblings, Pearlene enjoyed cooking, serving, and hosting. She was the “world’s greatest cook” to family and friends. She also delighted in home interior decorating, vegetable gardening, and sewing chic apparel. She was a graceful woman of elegant fashion and class.  
 
Pearlene was a longtime member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess since 1984. Naturally hospitable and with a servant’s heart, she also served in the Hospitality Ministry.
 
Pearlene was predeceased by her father, Herman West; mother, L. Lee Jones West; and brothers: Herman West, Jr., Joe West, and TC West.
 
Those left to cherish precious memories and honor her legacy include her husband, Johnnie Higgins, Jr.; children: Demetrius Austin (Katrina), Kim Lusk (Derrick), Shawanda Higgins, LaKendric Higgins (Kimberly), and LaToya Higgins; Mawmaw's babies, Kieran, Christopher, Kayli, Kymerlyn, Katelyn, Braun, Keana, Evan, Lilly, Allister, Chloe, and Baby Austin; siblings: Amelia Swinson, Ella B. West, Morris West (Liz), Eric West (Claudia), Jimmy West, and Fred West; and a host of other relatives and friends.
