Ruby Lee Ross was born on February 15, 1931, to Louis Ross Sr. and Susanna West Ross in Leon County. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on November 20, 2018.
Ruby received her formal education in Leon County where she accepted Christ at a young age. Ruby married Lennis Hailey, Sr. and relocated to Dallas, Texas. In 1963, she moved to Hamilton Park to provide a better life for her children. During this time, she was an employee at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas where she started out in the dietary department and ended her career as a respiratory therapist after 32 years of service.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park under the leadership of Dr. J. Lee Foster. She continued to be a faithful member at First Baptist until her health began to decline. During her time at First Baptist, she served on the mission board, was a devoted choir member, and was a known prayer warrior.
Ruby leaves behind a huge family that will miss her presence tremendously. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, five brothers, and daughter, Betty Blaylock. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Kenneth (Debra), Charles, Ruby Nell, Freddie, Mary (Darin), Lennis Jr., Leroy (Cheryl), and Deborah; siblings: Vertie Mae, Lurlee, Susie, Lois (James), Larry (Mary), Louis Jr. (Toni), and Raymond; son-in-law, Joe Blaylock; grandchildren: Wendy (Leonard), Benjamin, Candice, Steven (Janeen), Charles Jr. (Stacey), Larry, and LaShey; 13 great-grandchildren; special niece, Vertie (Tolue) Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
