Albert Roy Lockhart, Sr. was born on July 19, 1934, in Yowell, Texas. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on December 13, 2020, in Mesquite, Texas.
Albert graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force from which he retired after 20 years of service. He also worked at Honeywell for 10 years and later attended Richland Community College where he earned an Associate Degree. A man with a strong work ethic, Albert also enjoyed self-employment in facility maintenance and carpentry.
Among many hobbies, Albert enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, and traveling. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing dominoes and cards.
Albert accepted Christ at a young age. He served as a deacon for many years at Greater Cornerstone Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. David E. Wilson. He later served as a deacon at New Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. R.E. Price, Sr. and later Dr. Tommy L. Brown. Albert was often seen setting up for the early morning Sunday worship service. He sometimes opened the service devotion by himself. He was one of the original members of the Finance Committee and served as the Church Clerk. A special and faithful member, his presence will be dearly missed by the officers and members.
A hard-working, well-dressed gentleman with an admirable dedication, Albert Roy Lockhart will be fondly remembered for his humble and soft-spoken nature. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Albert was preceded in death by his father, Gertrude Lockhart; mother, Mable E Lockhart; first wife, Artis F. Lockhart; brother, Carl Ford Lockhart; twin brother, Henry Ray Lockhart; and sister, Ethelma Printers. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Debra Lockhart; children: Albert R. Lockhart, Jr. (Valerie Lockhart), Larry W. Lockhart, Sr. (Pamela Lockhart), Cynthia R. Brewer (Kevin Brewer), Linda House (Dion House), Peggy Davis (Pastor Greg Davis), Pastor Dennis L. Lockhart, Phillip A. Lockhart, Wendell E. Lockhart (Vicki Lockhart), and Damian S. Lockhart; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, G. L. Lockhart and Charles Dean Lockhart; sister, Betty Robinson; sister-in-law, Erma Lockhart; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
