Alfred Burney Obituary

Alfred Earl Burney was born on December 13, 1955, to Claudy C. Burney and Ester L. Evans, in Dallas, Texas. He transitioned to eternity on September 10, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.

Alfred graduated from Garland High School in 1973. He served in the United States Navy from 1973 until he was honorably discharged. He later graduated from Trinity Valley Community College where he earned an Associate of Science degree in 1988.

Alfred began his Christian walk at an early age. He united with Kaiser Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor L.W. Wilson. He was baptized at the age of 12 and served in the church faithfully as a choir member and member of the Usher Board Ministry. He later continued his walk by uniting with Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church where he worked and served diligently until his health declined. Alfred's favorite part of the church was attending Sunday School.

Alfred was an avid community supporter. He donated his time and money to The Human Society International, The American Legion, Habitat for Humanity, Help Heal Veterans, Disabled Veterans National Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and the United States Navy Memorial.

Among many hobbies, Alfred loved playing dominoes, spending time with family and friends, and being very active in his church. He will be fondly remembered for his lively, humorous, amusing, smart, and godly nature. His kind spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Claudy C. Burney and Esther L. Evans. Those left to cherish precious memories include his siblings - Yolanda Burney Johnson (Earl), Felita Burney Rattler, Melinda Evans, and Kelvin Evans; stepmother, Rev. Flora Evans; aunts, Quida Howard and Annie Whetstone; uncle, Richard Burney; caregiver-cousin, Anthony Brown; goddaughter, Mary Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
