Altouce Lacree Young, fondly known as “Al”, was born to Betty Jean Young and Raymond James Pollock on March 16, 1955, in Marianna, Florida. He peacefully passed away on August 16, 2024, in Plano, Texas.
Al accepted Christ at an early age at St. James Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, relative, and friend to many. He grew up in Marianna, raised by his great-grandmother, Beatrice Smith, who was affectionately known as “Ma B”. He attended Marianna High School where he excelled academically and perfected calligraphy handwriting. He was a starting forward on the Marianna basketball team and once shot 41 points in a single game. Al was nominated as Academic All-State but was disqualified because he decided to march for equal rights during his senior year. He ran track and was a three-star letterman. He received 45 basketball offer letters from multiple colleges throughout the states. Al loved music and was a member of the marching and classical bands, in which he played the alto saxophone and French horn. He also played other musical instruments, including the piano and acoustic guitar. In 1972, Al moved to Dallas, Texas. He attended Dallas Baptist University and the University of Phoenix where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Al was a Senior Loan Officer and Assistant Vice President at several banks and mortgage companies in the DFW area. He was recognized as a top producer for many years. As a Senior Loan Officer at Countrywide Home Loans, he was recognized for funding $3 billion in home sales in a quarter and also made the Hall Walk of Fame wall, where his picture appeared in all 7 categories in one month. As AVP, he created the University Student Campus at Countrywide, training incoming students to become future loan officers. His career concluded at JP Morgan Chase where he was a Relationship Manager for the last four years.
On July 22, 1989, Al married the love of his life, Beckie Elaine Mott. Together, the two loved and nurtured their children and lived a blissfully blessed life. Al and Beckie remained united in holy matrimony until his transition.
In his spare time, Al enjoyed playing tennis, swimming, golfing, bowling, and most of all, playing basketball. He was trained in martial arts, earning a black belt in Taekwondo. He was meticulous about his lawn and extremely passionate about fitness.
Al is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Beckie Young. his sons, Derrick Young of Dallas, Texas, and Ashton Young of Frisco, Texas; his daughter, Melecia Young of Frisco, Texas; his special cousins - Annie Delois Gratton (Don) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Mary Young of Marianna, Florida, Michael Young of Augusta, Georgia, Gregory Young of Augusta, Georgia, and James Robinson (Demetris) of Birmingham, Alabama; his sisters-in-law - Deborah Taylor (Rev. C. R.) of Dallas, Texas, and Darla Smith (Patrick) of Mckinney, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
