Annie Lee (Joubert) Hallman was born on January 27, 1950, in Plaisance, Louisiana. Leaving a legacy of love and light, she now basks in the presence of the Almighty God, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Annie graduated from Plaisance High School in May of 1969. She went on to enjoy a career in fashion, working for Marshall Fields and Neiman Marcus. In 1998, after many years of dedicated service, Annie retired.
Affectionately known as "Anna", "Tiny", and "Deuce", Annie united with the love of her life, Melvin James Hallman, on July 13, 1972. In their union, three children were loved and nurtured. The two remained united in holy matrimony until Annie's transition.
Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. Under the leadership of Dr. R.E. Price, she united with New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir until her health began to decline. Even still, Annie remained faithful in her attendance under the continued leadership of Dr. Tommy L. Brown. She will be fondly remembered for her classy, sophisticated style, which always coordinated with her husband's.
Among many hobbies, Annie delighted in doing crossword puzzles, watching The Bold & Beautiful, and shopping. She most enjoyed being used as a vessel to share God's love through speaking encouraging words, praying for others, and singing. She will be lovingly remembered for the many ways she modeled the love of Christ.
Annie was preceded in death by her mother, Sedonia Young-Joubert, who was affectionately known as "Ya"; her father, Lawrence Joubert, who was affectionately known as "Law"; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank Joubert (Helen); and her beloved nephew, Rev. James Rodney Ben.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her loving husband of 53 years, Melvin J. Hallman, Sr, for whom she cared until her transition; her two sons, Shawn Everette Joubert (Lisa) of College Station, Texas, and Melvin J. Hallman, Jr. (LaQueta) of Dallas, Texas; her daughter, Rolanda Gooch (Anthony) of Silsbee, Texas; her seven sisters, Florence M. Lawson (Elder Al) of Stockton, Alabama, Clara Wilkerson of Houston, Texas, Francis LaFleur (Pastor Nelson) of Houston, Texas, Christine Rivers (Pastor Gerald) of Missouri City, Texas, Charlotte Harris of Missouri City, Texas, Minister Patsy Jones (Clinton) Opelousas, Louisiana, and Jacqueline Dobbins (Vincent) of Odenton, Maryland; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her godson, Michael Edwards; her goddaughter, Angelia Nunez; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
