Arlanders Mitchell Sr.

Arlanders “Pecos” Mitchell Sr. was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, where he was the oldest of eight children in his family.

A talented track athlete, he became a city champion while attending Dunbar High School. His lifelong love of music began at Manhattan Heights Church of Christ and continued through his years at Lubbock Christian College, where he sang with the Acapella Chorus and later helped form the quartet Ebontide.

After moving to Dallas in the early 1970s, Arlanders remained devoted to his faith, family, and music, serving and singing with several gospel groups throughout his life. He also pursued his passion for art, earning a degree in Graphic Design and building a distinguished 28-year career as an Illustrator with Raytheon.

In 2005, he married Betty Rainwater, beginning a cherished chapter of love and companionship. He was the father of seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Arlanders will be remembered for his deep faith in God, his beautiful voice, his artistic talent, and the kindness and joy he shared with everyone he met.
