Arthur Lee Jones, Jr. Obituary

Arthur Lee Jones, Jr., 81, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Arthur Lee was affectionately known by many as "Junior", "Sam", and "Uncle Sam".

Arthur Lee was born on October 26, 1944, to the parentage of Arthur Lee Jones, Sr., and Hazel Everett Jones in Daingerfield, Texas. His maternal grandparents were James Everett, Sr., and Ardella Pinkie Heath Everett, and his paternal grandparents were Airy Jones and Lola Jones, all of whom preceded him in death. At an early age, Arthur Lee accepted Christ and joined the New Hope Baptist Church in Daingerfield.

Arthur Lee attended J.J. Rhoads High School, where he excelled in Track & Field and Football. He graduated from high school in May of 1962 and continued his education at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas, for two years. On March 22, 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, serving four years of active duty and receiving numerous medals for his great accomplishments. Arthur Lee was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1969. Shortly after leaving the military, he enjoyed a career with the U.S. Postal Service in Dallas, Texas, until his retirement in 2010.

Arthur Lee loved spending time with his family and close friends, fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys games, listening to Jazz music, and playing the guitar, performing in backup bands for several great Blues artists, including B.B. King, Johnnie Taylor, Bobby Bland, and Little Milton.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his children, Sandra Bradford (Harrison) of Crestview, Florida and Anthony Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; his stepsons, Reginald Smith and Stanley Smith, both of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Ruth McNeil and Joyce Ann Jones, both of Garland, Texas; a special lady, Betty Smith; a very special uncle, Earnest Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
