Artis John Mondy was born the fifth of 12 children to Artis Buster and Precious Jewel Mondy on January 2, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on November 2, 2021, in Richardson, Texas.
Artis attended Saint Paul School in Neylandville, Texas. A very skillful and independent man, Artis owned a construction company. He provided work for many McKinney, Farmersville, Greenville, Plano, and Dallas residents. Artis also laid concrete foundations for many homes in the Richardson and North Dallas areas until he retired.
Artis met the love of his life, Betty Jenkins, and the two united in holy matrimony. They remained united until her transition.
Artis accepted Christ at an early age at Galloway Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder D.S. Lacey. He remained faithful to God's word throughout his life.
Among many hobbies, he loved to grow greens and poke salad. He also enjoyed attending family reunions and conversing with family and friends.
Artis was preceded in death by his parents, Artis Buster and Precious Jewel Mondy; loving wife of 54 years, Betty Mondy; brothers - Varice, Billy Doyce, Roy Donald, and R.T.; and sisters - Vernice, Charlie Ruth, Beverly Kaye, and Doris. Those left to cherish precious memories include his daughter, Ruby Mondy; sisters, Vernell Darden and Annette Stiggers; brother, Lawrence Mondy (Vivian); sisters-in-law - Eddie Mae Mondy, Shirley Mondy, and Bettye Mondy; brother-in-law, Roscoe Linwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
