Ashley Whitaker, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on April 7, 2026, at the age of 31. Ashley brought light, laughter, and love into the lives of everyone who knew her, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.
Ashley had a remarkable sense of humor and a playful spirit that brought laughter into everyday life. Affectionately known as “the brat,” she was always playing practical jokes, sneaking up on loved ones to scare them, or doing quirky little things to make people laugh. Rarely did a day go by without her finding a way to bring humor into the room.
Ashley and her mother shared an incredibly close and unbreakable bond. They spoke every day. She was not only her daughter, but her best friend, the person she laughed with, leaned on, and shared everything with. Those closest to them often remarked on how alike they were, feeding off each other’s energy and seeming to know exactly what the other was thinking. Ashley had a way of showing up no matter what, always ready to drop anything to be there when she was needed. Their connection was deep, constant, and filled with love.
She shared a special connection with her brother and was always there to help care for him. One of her favorite traditions was at Christmas, wrapping his presents in multiple layers and sealing them with shipping tape to make them nearly impossible to open. The laughter that followed became a cherished family memory.
Ashley was often described by her friends as sassy, stubborn, and fierce, but equally kind, loving, and sweet. She had a heart like no other and was deeply loyal to those she loved. While she could be opinionated, it always came from a place of love. Friends have shared countless stories of how Ashley showed up for them during their hardest moments, offering comfort, support, and unwavering loyalty.
Her love for her family was unwavering. When her father was hospitalized, Ashley immediately got in her car and drove ten hours to be by his side. She also shared a very special relationship with her mother’s partner, Haytham, whom she considered another father. The two shared similar personalities and a love of playful banter, often teaming up together against her mom and brother.
Ashley had many friends who loved her deeply, including her two lifelong friends affectionately known as “the Erins,” who were more like sisters. Their relationship was filled with laughter, occasional disagreements, and an unbreakable bond.
From a young age, Ashley showed a love for learning. She taught herself to read at just three years old and spent countless hours immersed in books—a passion she carried throughout her life. Ashley had a deep love for animals, especially her Rottweiler, Maya, who passed several years ago but never left her heart. She kept Maya’s picture on her phone as a quiet reminder of that special bond.
To those who didn’t know her well, Ashley could seem shy at first. But to those who truly knew her, she was a fireball, full of personality, humor, and life, with a deeply sensitive, compassionate, and empathetic soul.
Ashley recently began pursuing her studies in medical billing and coding and was excited about the future ahead. She loved music and movies, enjoyed traveling, preferred comfort over dressing up, and was rarely without her signature long, designer nails.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, David M. Sullivan, and her grandmother, Shirley Ditzler.
Ashley is survived by her mother, Kristin Whitaker; her father, Chris Whitaker; her brother, Drew Whitaker; her grandmother, Lois Sullivan; her aunts and uncles; and many extended family members and friends who loved her deeply.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
