Azaan Jabari Temba Abdellatif was born on December 20, 2001, in West Palm Beach, Florida. He left us on January 29, 2020, but his impact will be felt forever...well beyond his hometown of Murphy, Texas.
Azaan attended Wylie High School in Wylie, Texas. He was an exemplary athlete - a varsity football player, wrestler, and a track athlete. He made 1st Team All-District safety/cornerback and was named to the Academic All-State Team. He was proud to be inducted into the National Honor Society.
Closest to his heart were his dog, DK, his family, and his friends. Azaan also took great delight in being a neighborhood lifeguard manager. Azaan elevated all who crossed his path. He had a way of making everyone feel special. People felt honored to be in his light and to feel his charismatic smile. He attended Unity Church of Dallas where he developed his spiritual compass.
Azaan’s friends, family, coaches, and teachers will truly miss him. He will be remembered for his loving, passionate, and fearless nature. He faced every challenge with never-ending stamina. Azaan’s life was one steeped in true diversity - experiencing all people and all things.
Those left to cherish precious memories and continue his legacy of love and light include his parents, Amandla and Kelly Abdellatif; siblings: Katherine Hairston, Samuel Abdellatif, Shimeles Abdellatif, and Aza Abdellatif; grandparents; Major and Loretta Hairston and Vashti and Arlton Cooper; uncle, Kenneth Bazemore; aunt, Heather Hairston; and a host of other relatives, coaches, teachers, and friends.
