Bartola Flores Blanco was born on August 24, 1934, in Nunkiní, Campeche, Mexico, to Galdino Flores and Mercelina Haas. In 1960, she moved to the United States under the Bracero Program and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1995.
On March 23, 1965, she married the love of her life, Petronilo Blanco. Her spiritual journey began when she learned about Jehovah in 1975, dedicating her life to Him and getting baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 2, 1975.
Bartola faced profound loss when her husband passed away on May 5, 1977. As a single mother of three, she confronted many financial hardships but remained determined. Through perseverance and deep faith, she provided her children with the essentials they needed to succeed. Her strength and sacrifices bore fruit, as all three of her children went on to have successful careers.
Despite enduring the cruel effects of vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s in her later years, the core of who Bartola was remained untouched—her love for Jehovah, her family, and her fellow man never wavered. Surrounded by love until the end, she passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025, immediately after Song Number 40, “To Whom Do We Belong?” during the Life and Ministry Meeting on Zoom—a fitting final moment for a life lived in dedication to her Creator.
Bartola was more than a mother and grandmother—she was a symbol of strength, grace, and unwavering faith. Her absence leaves a deep void in our hearts, but we take comfort in the hope of the resurrection. We look forward to the day we will be reunited with her in Paradise, just as Jehovah promises in John 5:28, 29.
Bartola was preceded in death by her husband, Petronillo Blanco; her father, Galdino Flores; her mother, Mercelina Haas; her siblings, Rosamaria Flores and Herasestrato Flores; and her parents-in-law, Eduardo Blanco and Georgia Espirito.
Bartola is survived by her children, Juan Blanco, Carlos Blanco, and Silvia Gomez; her grandchildren, Christopher Blanco, Jordan Blanco, Jessica Zazulak, Samantha Blanco, Matthew Gomez, Sydney Gomez, and Faith Gomez; her siblings, Gregorio Flores Haas and Lorenza Flores de Perez; and other family members who will hold her in their hearts.
She is now safely in Jehovah’s memory—at peace, and never forgotten.
