Bettie Ann (Conner) Paul was born on May 16, 1934, in Dallas, Texas to Monroe Conner and Alice Pearl (Beaver) Conner. On January 23, 2025, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord.
Bettie attended public schools in Lancaster, Texas, and Dallas, Texas. Upon graduating from Lincoln High School at the age of 16, Bettie attended Huston-Tillotson College, now known as Huston-Tilloston University. Her major focus of study was music. She became an accomplished classically trained pianist and performed with the college orchestra. Later, after leaving college, she was Minister of Music for several churches around the city of Dallas.
Bettie met and married Rogers James Paul in 1954 in Dallas, Texas. To their union, four children were born. After the births of their first three children, the couple bought a home in the newly developed community of Hamilton Park in 1959, and Bettie remained a resident in this beloved community until her health declined. The two remained united in holy matrimony until Rogers' transition in 1992.
In her early years, Bettie accepted Christ and was a member of New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in South Dallas. Later, after marrying Rogers, she joined him at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the tutelage of Reverend Getral Wright. After Rogers died, she moved her membership closer to home and united with New Mount Zion Baptist Church under the pastoral care of Reverend Dr. R. E. Price, Sr.
In 1963, to help the family financially, Bettie went to work for the U. S. Postal Service as a clerk. She remained employed for 29 years, retiring in 1992 just weeks before the untimely sudden death of Rogers.
Bettie was preceded in death by her parents Monroe Conner and Alice Pearl (Beaver) Conner; brothers - Estus Curry, James Curry, Herman Curry, and Marvin Curry; sisters - Florence Roe, Dorothy Lewis, and Patsy Sumler; son-in-law, Michael Barrett; and grandson, Kevin Anthony Paul.
