Betty Jean Childs was born on September 27, 1932, in Garland, Texas. She transitioned on March 2, 2020, in Garland, Texas.
Betty attended George Washington Carver in Garland. After graduation, she went on to work in the laundry industry until she retired.
Betty enjoyed many hobbies, including dance, music, cooking, and watching television, particularly soap operas. Her favorites were The Bold & Beautiful and Law & Order.
Affectionately regarded as "Big Mama" by her loving family, Betty will be remembered for her feisty, outspoken, strong-willed, determined, and hard-working nature. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Goodson and Ora Connor Goodson; brother, Joe Goodson, Jr.; brother, R.D. Goodson; sister, Lorine Hill; sister, Bernice Antwine; brother, William Goodson; sister, Corine Hill; sister, Catherine Simpson; son, Robert Eugene Antwine; and son, Richard Earl Antwine. Those left to cherish precious memories include her children: Mary Ann McGee, William Lee Antwine (Donna), JoAnn Williams (Johnnie LeRoy), Patsy Toliver, and Joseph Antwine (Kathy); grandchildren: Launese Mumphrey (Johnathan), Anthony Antwine (Karen), Suzette Giadone (Chris), William Earl Antwine, Teresa Jackson (John), Johnnie Bernard Williams, Felicia Williams, Brandon Antwine, Joseph Antwine, Jr., Allegra Antwine, Willie Ray Antwine, and Carolyn Langrum; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
