Allen resident Billie Jean (King) Brumbelow passed away in Rowlett, Texas, on August 17, 2022.
Billie was born on September 20, 1932, to Joel Lester King and Rena May King in Breckenridge, Texas. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1950 and turned down a scholarship from Hardin Simmons Band to marry her high school sweetheart, Darrell Brumbelow. The two married on August 31, 1950, and had five children over the following 13 years.
Billie served as a mom and wife beside her husband as he pastored churches in Texas and Nebraska over a period of 10 years. Following those years, Billie worked as an executive assistant to a Missouri state senator and in the Marshall, Missouri state hospital.
Billie served as a Missouri state delegate and on a Grayson County, Texas grand jury.
In 1982, she and her husband moved to Whitesboro, Texas where they owned and operated Star Hardware and Appliance for 18 years. They lived in Whitesboro until December 2015, later moving to Allen where Darrell passed away in 2018 after 68 years of marriage.
Billie was known as a nurturing mother and grandmother and a faithful friend. She was an excellent example of the Proverbs 31 woman, a phenomenal helpmate to her husband. Her hobbies included sewing, walking, cooking, and caring for her family. Above all, she exemplified a confident faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Billie is survived by her children, Linda Ash Warner (Barry), Gary Brumbelow (Valerie), Mark Brumbelow (Jeanne), Karen Carrillo (Hector), and Abigail Carillo (Reynaldo); 15 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, father, mother, and brother preceded her in death.
