Bobby Darren Gilstrap

Bobby Darren Gilstrap went home to glory on April 5, 2026, at the age of 62.  He was born on May 29, 1963, at Laird Memorial Hospital in Kilgore, Texas, to Eugene and Helen (Kenney) Gilstrap.  Bobby attended Hamilton Park Elementary School, Forest Meadow Junior High, and graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1981.  Bobby was part of the Tennis Team from 1980-1981 and played the clarinet in the High School Band.  He continued his education at DeVry Institute of Technology, earning an Electronic Technician Diploma in 1983.  

Bobby had a remarkable work ethic, starting his career as an IT Tech working for various companies over the years. He ended his career at Frito-Lay/Pepsico, working from 1994 to 2014, from which he retired.

Bobby was united in marriage to Regina (Mitchell) Gilstrap on September 3, 1985.  He was devoted and loved his family very much. Bobby enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, golfing, riding his motorcycle, being on his boat, and of course, traveling. He was a free spirit and full of life, and those who had the pleasure of knowing him loved him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Maurice and Elzie Kenney; his paternal grandparents, BB and Beatrice Gilstrap; his grandparents-in-law, Marion and Irene Mitchell; his father-in-law, Fred Mitchell Sr.; his mother-in-law, Edna Mitchell; and his brother-in-law, Gregory L Metcalf.

Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Regina Gilstrap; his parents, Eugene and Helen Gilstrap; his sisters, Brenda Metcalf and Pamela McCowin (Marcus); his brother, Eric Gilstrap; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Pope; his brother-in-law, Fred Mitchell, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will all miss him dearly.
