Brenda Joyce (Lewis) Salone was born on September 15, 1948, to Esau and Thelma Louise (Barnett) Lewis. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on February 16, 2026.
An outstanding student, participating in the band and dancing as a majorette, Brenda graduated from Hamilton Park High School in 1967. She went on to attend Texas Woman's University, where she focused on Nursing. She enjoyed a career in medical technology and was a part of the Rockwell team that made the first heart pacer. She also worked with John Wiley Price and on Senator Royse West's campaign in his quest to serve as a member of the Texas Senate. After many years of service, she retired.
Brenda accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age while attending Haynes Chapel Church of God in Christ. She later united with New Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Wheatley Church of God in Christ, where she faithfully served as a deaconess and usher.
Brenda will be fondly remembered for her friendly nature, as she never met a stranger. She will always be admired for her gentle spirit as she cared for Everson Walls' mother, her own aunt, Laurine, and her lifelong companion, Gary. She viewed her natural gift of nurturing and caring for others as her divine assignment. Loving. Caring. Patient. Ambitious. Friendly. She was a bright light that brought comfort to all who crossed her path.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Esau and Thelma Lewis; her brothers, Melvin Lewis, Anthony Lewis, and Marion Lewis; her longtime companion, Gary Henderson; her niece, Shana Ross; and several aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include her brother, Henry Lewis; her aunt, Laurine Collins; her cousin, Pamela Williams; her nephew, Cory Allison (Shaunna); her niece, Kristin Allison; her niece, Adrienne Hester; her nephew, Preston Dougan; her cousins who affectionately regarded her as "Aunt Brenda", Andreanna "DeDe" Wren (Ricky), Coretta Harvey (Nekieta), and Jordan Williams; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who held a special place in her heart.
