"A Reflection of Life"
A Time to Be Born: Carl Dwaine Snowden was born on October 30, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, to Harvey Snowden and Dessie Irene Snowden.
A Time to Plant: During his childhood in Detroit, he accepted Christ and was baptized at New Kingdom Baptist Church. He participated in children and youth activities at the church.
A Time to Learn: Carl graduated from Northwestern High School in 1967 and received a scholarship to attend Oakland University. After graduating from Oakland University, Carl continued his education by enrolling in Law school at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Carl then enlisted in the Military and served his country with the United States Army. He became captain of the Signal Corps. Carl traveled the world while serving his country.
He loved the military life. Carl attended American Technological University and earned a Master of Science in Management.
A Time to Work: Carl worked for General Motors, where he rose through the ranks from Purchasing Buyer to Purchasing Manager. He then became Director of Purchasing for Delphi Corporation, a division of General Motors. Carl relocated to Paris, France, for a period of two and a half years. After returning, Carl traveled from Wisconsin, Detroit, and Juarez, Mexico, monthly. Carl retired in 2016 after a 36-year career marked by dedication and hard work.
A Time to Love: It was during a visit to Texas that he met the love of his life. They met in 1996, fell in love, and later married in 1999. He loved LaVerne dearly. Carl was an incredible husband. He had a special LOVE for life, his wife, children, and family. After moving to Texas in 2016, he joined Highland Hills United Methodist Church. He was a faithful member of the United Methodist Men, where he served as Treasurer, Trustee, and a member of the finance committee. Carl devoted his time to the church wherever the need was.
A Time to Play: Carl was a hard-working man and took very good care of his family. Carl enjoyed reading and listening to jazz music. He has a wide range of jazz, R&B, and gospel music albums. Another pass-time activity for Carl was spending time at the public library.
A Time To Die: The death angel of the lord summoned Carl from his work on earth on Friday, March 14, 2025, and now he’s resting.
A Time to Praise: Today, we celebrate and praise God for His life and His unselfish love.
Carl leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, LaVerne; three sons, Cedi Ali Rajah, Kevin Snowden, and Garrison Snowden; and the father of four daughters, Karla Clifton, Dr. Paula McDonald (Gary), Pamela Gatewood (Kenneth), and Christina Snowden, Sisters; Sharon Moore, Greta Coleman, Yoshita Snowden, brothers; Tyrese Snowden (Patrica), Tyronza Snowden (Diane) Harvel Snowden, brother and sister-in-law Charles Jefferson (Judy). Carl was the grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as a host of relatives, including nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members, along with dear friends.
