Cecilia Rodriguez Obituary

Cecilia Rodriguez was born on September 4, 1952, to Fernando Muñoz and Rosa Elena Rodriguez in Dallas, Texas. She was one of nine children born into this union. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away on February 22, 2023, in Garland, Texas.

Affectionately regarded as "Ceci" and "C'est si bon", Cecilia graduated from Brownsville High School in 1970. She went on to enjoy a longtime career as an educator at St. Luke’s Catholic School and Horizon Montessori. Cecilia never cared for modern technology and preferred human interaction. She always thought technology was “stupid” and “made life more difficult.”  After experiencing a few months of teaching in the virtual world, she decided it was time to retire in 2020.

On June 21, 1975, she married Johnny Rodriguez. To their union, three beautiful children were loved and nurtured.

Among many hobbies, Cecilia loved to cook and enjoyed decorating with Peanuts gang memorabilia. Most of all, she enjoyed celebrating with her family. She accepted Christ at a young age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life.

She will be remembered for her selfless, modest, welcoming, and sincere nature. Her kind spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish fond memories include her son, Daniel "Danny" Rodriguez; her son, John Anthony Rodriguez; and her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Garcia, and son-in-law, Isaias Garcia Coronado. She also leaves her siblings - Carmen (who was with her as her main caretaker, confidant, and loving friend and sister for many weeks prior to her passing), Rosie (who was also by her side when she passed), Fernie, Ricky, Jaime, Momo, Bebe, and Henry; and her friend and confidant, Brunie Villarreal, whom she loved dearly.

While she was unable to respond to all of the heartfelt messages and calls, she knew that she was loved and had a special place in the hearts of many.
