Charles J. "Chuck" Pero, Jr. was born on June 28, 1969, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the union of Charles Sr. and Jacqulyn Pero. He was the first of two sons born of the proud parents.
Charles was introduced to the Lord early in his life, baptized at the age of 6 by Rev. D.L. Stewart of New Zion Baptist Church, and was active in the Sunday School and youth programs.
Charles and his family relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in December 1978, where he graduated from Hale High School. He was a member of the speech and debate team and the ecology club. He was also an outstanding football and soccer player while at Hale. He later attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where he majored in Business Administration. In the summer of 2000, he met LaShonda Bowman. The two married in 2002, and two beautiful children, Joshua and Cameron, were added to the family.
Charles worked for several major corporations in the Tulsa and Dallas areas, including Doubletree Hotels, Vartec, Caremark, Liberty Mutual, and others, primarily in the customer care and marketing/sales areas. He always enjoyed participating in his children’s sports and school activities. Known for his outgoing and friendly personality, Charles never met a stranger. Among many hobbies, Charles delighted in cooking, especially grilling. He became fascinated with photography, producing beautiful family portraits and a variety of outstanding landscape and scenery pictures. He devoted his final years to his children who were the joy and sparkle of his life.
After a long battle with several medical issues, Charles departed this life on December 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, maternal grandmother, and two uncles. Those left to cherish precious memories include his two children, Joshua and Cameron; parents, Charles and Jacqulyn Pero; brother, Christopher Pero (Donna); niece, Lauren; nephew, Cooper; mother of his children, LaShonda Bowman Pero; maternal grandmother of his children, Irene Bowman; maternal family of his children; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
