Charles Burnett Jones was born on December 23, 1941, to the late Robert Jones and Rose Elizabeth McCoy in Hope, Arkansas. He was the eldest of four siblings.
Charles moved to Northern California in 1950 at the age of 9. He attended Polytechnic High School and Balboa High School, graduating in 1960. On May 31, 1960, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on March 6, 1963. He went on to work at San Francisco General Hospital as a Medical Supply Technician. Later, he began his career in chemical engineering at Diamond Shamrock in Redwood City. Charles retired in 1988.
Charles surrendered his life to Christ in 1992. In December of 2007, he and his wife, Sharon, moved to Dallas, Texas, and united with the Greenville Avenue Church of Christ. There, his spiritual journey changed. He became involved in the Young at Heart Ministry and worked as a Monitor with VBS. He remained steadfast in his faith until his transition.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 49 years, Sharon Jones; his sister, Cynthia Wilson; and his brothers, Ramon Carroll and Arthur Butler. Those left to cherish lasting memories include his two sons, Nate Branch (Grace) and Erik Branch; his two daughters, Shaneen Jones and Kesha Jones-Adams (Anthony); his sister, Loretta Carroll-Street (Carl); his five sisters-in-law, Vivian Jones, Bettie Foster, Loretta Slaughter, Joyce English, and Denise Butler; his brother-in-law, Calvin Foster; his best friend, Tony Pillars; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
