Charles McDonald Obituary

Charles McDonald was born on December 4, 1951, in McKinney, Texas. On April 8, 2020 at 11:45 am, Charles transitioned from his earthly home to glory where he will no longer suffer. We wanted to keep him here in our presence, but God knew what was best for him.

Affectionately regarded as "Charlie MAC”, Charles graduated from McKinney High School in 1970. He was a talented athlete and student which enabled him to earn a  scholarship to North Texas University. During his high school years, he was a tri-athlete, excelling in track, basketball, and football and was one of the first African Americans to start and Captain the school’s basketball team. In college, he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi but was hospitalized by an athletic injury which ended his pledge-ship. His contribution to Kappa is remembered and respected.

On May 18, 1985, he married the love of his life, Kim Weaver. The two remained united in holy matrimony until his transition.

Charles enjoyed a career with two multinational corporations, Halliburton and FedEx. After a successful career, Charles retired in 2018 to enjoy life to the fullest with his family and friends.

Charles had many hobbies, among them listening to blues and jazz was a favorite. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, entertaining, and watching any and ALL sports!! He was an avid golfer but his passion was spending time with his family, children, grandchildren and lifelong friends.

As a child, Charles was raised at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas. He later joined Christian Chapel Temple of Faith in Dallas, Texas. There, he was an integral participant in the golf ministry. At the time of his transition, he was a faithful member of One Community Church in Plano, Texas.

A loving Christian man with a beautiful smile, Charles will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man and friend to everyone he met. A man who appreciated a fine cigar, Charles was down to earth, helpful, personable, and wise beyond his years. Charles knew a lot about a lot and will surely be missed!!

Charles was preceded in death by his father, Andrew McDonald, Sr.; mother, Bessie Watson; grandmother, Allie Krivin; brothers: Andrew McDonald, Jr., Clifford McDonald, and Ray McDonald; sister, Beverly Cole; and uncle, Rev. Roy Walker. Those left to cherish precious memories and continue his legacy of love include his loving wife, Kim Weaver-McDonald; children: Chandria McDonald, Cedric Roy (Andrea), Kevin McDonald, and Kellie McDonald; grandchildren: Desmine Hilliard, Kristalyn Bradley, Preston McDonald, Kimberly McDonald, and Benjamin Ortiz-Roy; great-grandchildren, Aralynn Gay and Arthur Gay III (AG); brother, Edward McDonald; sister, Kathy Matthews; aunt, Virginia Hargraves; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Renata Weaver; sisters-in-law: Karen Weaver, Phyllis McDonald, Carol Adams, and Joyce Payne; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
