Charles Richard Miles was born on April 27, 1944, in Kettle Island, Kentucky. On January 20, 2025, surrounded by family, he went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Charles graduated from Van High School WV in 1962. He went on to enjoy life as a barber and coal miner. He also managed a service station owned by his parents, and he owned Miles Radiator Service. In December 2018, Charles retired as a security officer for Trammell Crow.
Affectionately regarded as Richard, Charles married the love of his life, Dreama Ann Burns, on November 2, 1968. The two remained united in holy matrimony until she gained her wings on September 4, 2022.
Charles accepted Christ as his Lord and remained steadfast in his faith. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. Among many hobbies, he enjoyed summer trips to the Gospel Quartet Convention in Memphis, Tennessee; gospel concerts where he delighted in fellowship with family and friends; and watching numerous sports especially the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and West Virginia Mountaineers. He also loved old westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and feeding and watching the birds in his backyard. He most cherished spending time with family.
Charles will be fondly remembered for his strong, faithful, funny, and trustworthy nature. His caring spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dreama Ann (Burns) Miles; parents, Charles and Goldie Miles; sisters, Joyce White and Ruth Miller; parents-in-law, Dennie and Maxine Burns; and great-grandchild, infant LeGarde.
Those left to cherish lasting memories include his children - Eric Burns, Melodee Hernandez (Pablo), Chariese Thompson (Eric), and Natalee Hubbard (James); his grandchildren - Ashlee, Salena (Stanley) Courtnie (Bud), Marquel, Erianna (Kenny), Pablo Richard (Jordyn), Jamison, and Ellia; his great-grandchildren - Andrew, Chrystian, Arabella, CeNiyah, Gracelyn Rose, Henry Kalil, Mason, Adrian, Gwendolyn, and Bohdie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
