Charles Spencer was born on December 20, 1941, to Lon D. Spencer and Helen (Smith) Spencer in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He transitioned to eternity on January 18, 2023, in Lancaster, Texas.
Affectionally regarded as “Chuck” and "Spencer", Charles graduated from Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He went on to attend Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. During his senior year at Central State University, he left to enlist in the United States Army where he served as a paratrooper.
In 1963, Charles united in holy matrimony with Amanda Jean (Bowie) Spencer. This union was blessed with 5 children: Charles Jr., Sonya, Andrea, Christina, and Robert.
Early on, Charles enjoyed a career as a professional boxer and won many titles. Later, he enjoyed a longtime career at TWA Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Big Daddy’s Grocery. During his tenure with Saudi Arabian Airlines, Charles was able to relocate his family to live in Saudi Arabia on two occasions and travel to many destinations around the world.
Charles will be fondly remembered for his generous, hardworking, and funny nature. Growing up, he was the “fun parent” to his children who will hold dear the memories of their loving father. His kind spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Lon D. Spencer and Helen (Smith) Spencer; brothers - Lon Jr., James, Bennett, and Gene Cal; son, Charles Jr.; and granddaughter, Courtney Bailey.
Those left to cherish precious memories include his children – Sonya Turner (John), Andrea Daniels (Allarry), Christina Carter (David), Robert Spencer (Jennifer), and Amanda Williams; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Winifred Spencer; long-time companion, Annita Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and beloved friends.
