Clark Edward Yarbrough, Jr., affectionately regarded as “Lil Man”, was the baby of three sons born to Clark Edward Yarbrough, Sr., and Mattie Bea Harris-Yarbrough on March 15, 2001, in Garland, Texas. A kind-hearted, thoughtful, awesome, and caring young man, Clark loved God and manifested a Christian walk that exemplified spiritual growth daily.
Clark excelled both academically and athletically, and he received numerous academic and athletic awards. On June 1, 2019, he graduated from Sachse High School in Sachse, Texas. His hard work on and off the field gave him the opportunity to continue his dreams of playing football at the collegiate level. The recipient of multiple football scholarships, he committed to play for Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Clark wanted to establish his own legacy in football, as he proudly wore #96 during his high school and college tenure. He was a defensive tackle who assisted in helping the Tigers win their season opener as he recorded two tackles. Last season, he played all 11 games and finished the season with 27 tackles. Additionally, in 2021, he was honored by the Great American Conference (GAC) for an honorable mention as a defensive tackle.
Clark was expected to graduate in May of 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Sports Management. In addition to being a remarkable student-athlete, he was a resident assistant for the University and participated in several organizations, including OBU Bible study group and the Multicultural Organization Reaching Equality (MORE).
Clark enjoyed playing video games, traveling, bowling, eating, going to movies, dining out, church fellowships, and hanging out with his family. A man with a servant's heart and contagious smile, he loved helping others and desired to be an impactful leader on and off the field. He confessed hope in Christ on September 19, 2009, at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Townsend. There, he sang in the choir and was a member of the usher board. He was also faithful in attending youth church and Sunday school.
Clark departed his earthly home and stepped into his heavenly home on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Clark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James ULester Lee Harris, Sr. and Ruth Ella Harris; maternal uncle, Harry Lee Harris; maternal aunts, Ruthie Mae Williams, Jennie Watkins, Mary Bethel Harris Vaughn, and Anita Harris; and paternal grandfathers, Albert Yarbrough and C.W. Sesley.
Clark’s memory will forever be in the hearts of his loving parents, Clark E. Yarbrough, Sr. and Mattie B. Harris-Yarbrough; loving brothers, Clark DeShun Yarbrough, Allen J. Yarbrough, and Matthew A. Yarbrough; niece, SaMiyah Yarbrough; grandmother, Beatrice Sesley; aunts - Dorothy Harris Smith, Angela Allen (Albert), and Georgia Harris; uncles - Jimmy Harris, Barney Harris, Marvin Yarbrough, and James Harris, Jr. (Linda); godparents, Michael and Janice Mitchell; god-grandparents, Ralph and Patsy Anderson; special friend, Mallory Gatson; and a host of aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, friends, and church family who were all instrumental in his life.
Also left to cherish lasting memories is Clark’s athletic family, including Sachse High School and Ouachita Baptist University football coaches and staff.
With its sands of time, the hourglass has slowly but surely spilled its contents and, with the passing of the last grain, went the life of our loved one. We are comforted to know that earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot heal.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. ~James 4:10
