Corbin Wesley Shouse Obituary

Corbin Wesley Shouse passed away on December 28, 2019, after a brief illness at the age of 90. He was born in Picher, Oklahoma, on October 1, 1929. He obtained a chemical engineering degree from The University of Oklahoma in 1951. After working for a brief time at Union Carbide in Texas City, Wes served in the Army during the Korean War as a researcher at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver. During that time, Wes met and married Marcia Ingram. They had a very happy, loving marriage until Marcia’s death in 2016.

Wes’ career was spent in the oil industry. He started at Cosden Oil in Big Spring and was later made VP of Refining of American Petrofina Company of Texas and Cosden Oil and Chemical Company, wholly owned subsidiaries of American Petrofina, Inc. Ultimately, Wes was made Treasurer of the company and joined Fina’s Board of Directors. He finished his career at American Petrofina in Dallas.

Marcia and Wes raised their three children in Big Spring and Dallas. They were involved in each community, schools and churches. Upon retirement, they moved to Hideaway Lakes where they lived for 26 years. They returned to Dallas for their last years and resided at CC Young Senior Living. They loved to fish, play bridge, dance, travel with their friends, and, most importantly, play with their adored six grandchildren.

Throughout his career and personal life, Wes was known as a person of curiosity, intelligence and integrity. He believed in always doing the right thing, even when no one was looking. Of all of the many accomplishments in Wes’ life, he felt his family was the most important. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Wes was predeceased by his parents, Eliza and Bill Shouse; his wife, Marcia; and his son, Dr. Ken Shouse. He is survived by his son, Clint, his wife, Margaret, and their children, Clay and Mary; his daughter, Mary Block, her husband, Mark, and their daughters and spouses, Betsy and Nick Morrow and Kathleen and Charlie Low. Surviving Wes’ son, Ken, are his wife, Karon, and their children and spouses, Acacia and Corbin Shouse and Kathryn and Marc Reichel. In the last months of his life, Wes happily became a great-grandfather to Mary Stuart Low.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at CC Young Senior Living in The Point. The interment will be at 10:00 am on Monday, January 6, 2020, at DFW National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
