Cotis Cox, Sr. Obituary

Cotis Lee Cox, Sr. was born on August 27, 1946, to the late John Henry Cox and Pearl Allen Cox in the close-knit community of Lewisville, Arkansas. On December 31, 2024, God called him home with open arms.

Cotis enlisted in the US Marine Corp in March of 1966. He served as a rifleman until he honorably retired in 1968 after the Vietnam conflict. Cotis moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma and married his late wife, Ella Cox. He worked at Uniroyal Tires and finally retired at the age of 50.

Cotis brought light and warmth to all who knew him. He loved laughing, joking, and sitting on the front porch with family and friends. He delighted in drinking on his cold one while being on the phone with his sisters and kids up late cooking. Cotis loved his family and would go above and beyond, getting on the highway at any time just to go see about his family. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, playing Dominoes, and grilling for his big family. He loved road trips, especially riding his Harley motorcycle with his good buddy, Ray, as they did a hundred on the highway in Sacramento, California. Cotis will be deeply missed and remembered for his graceful, loving smile and humorous jokes. Everywhere he went, he made a friend.

Those left to cherish lasting memories include his three daughters - JoAnna Idanele of Denton, Texas, Denise Eley of Fort, Wayne, Indiana, and Yolanda Cox of Ardmore, Oklahoma; two sons, Cotis Cox, Jr. and Derrick Cox; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Tatum of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Jewel McCoun of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one aunt, Mattie Elizabeth Hubbard of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives who favored and deeply loved Cotis.
