Obituary

Curly Louis McCoy was born on May 30, 1947, in Marshall, Texas. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on March 16, 2023, in Plano, Texas.

Curly graduated from H. B. Pemberton High School in 1966. In 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army. After serving his country with great pride, Curly was honorably discharged in 1969. He went on to attend Grahams Barber College where he earned his barber's license in 1972. He later attended El Centro College where he earned his Food Service Management certificate in 1986. He owned and operated C&B Barbeque and Can I Cook Catering for a number of years, and he enjoyed a longtime career as a barber at Grahams Barber Shop in Dallas and Salon 1710 in Richardson. In 2021, he retired.

Affectionately regarded as "Lil’ Bro’", Curly married the love of his life, Elsa Moreno Pedong, on October 6, 1989. The two remained united in holy matrimony until his transition.

A man of faith and devotion, Curly accepted Christ and remained steadfast in his faith. He united with North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship under the leadership of  Dr. Leslie Smith. There, he sang with the Male Chorus. Later, he united with Amity Bible Church under Pastor Smith's leadership. There, he participated in the Adult Sunday School Class

Among many hobbies, Curly was an exceptional cook, specializing in smoked brisket, ribs, salmon, greens, and his mouth-watering tea cakes. An avid golfer, he participated in the NBT-Neckbone Tournament Golf Organization. He delighted most in church and family fellowships.

His most significant achievement was being named a Bronze Star Medal recipient on March 22, 1968.

A man of admirable wisdom, courage, and strength, Curly will be fondly remembered. His loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
