Darryl Shaun Duffie was born on June 25, 1965, the oldest son of Andrew Duffie and Gracie Bradley Duffie in Henderson, Texas. On March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, he transitioned peacefully to eternity.
Darryl received his early education in the Texas school system and graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1983. He earned a football scholarship to Rice University and later transferred to East Texas A&M University, where he excelled athletically, earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Darryl accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Little Flock Baptist Church in Forney, Texas, where he served diligently as an usher, deacon, and trustee. His commitment to his church and community left a lasting and meaningful impact.
On October 2, 1999, Darryl married the love of his life, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Selmon. The two loved and nurtured two beautiful daughters, Dariya Symone and Dalaney Sanai’. The two remained united until his transition.
Darryl was a devoted and respected professional who faithfully served the Dallas County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD) for more than 36 years. Throughout his long and distinguished career, he contributed to many areas of the department. His leadership, knowledge, and steady presence helped support the vital day-to-day work of the department in serving the community. In his most recent role as Director of Operations and IT, Darryl played an integral part in guiding departmental functions and ensuring operational excellence. Over the decades, he built lasting relationships with colleagues across the organization and impacted generations of employees. His commitment, professionalism, and friendship made a lasting impact, and he will be missed.
In addition to his professional career, Darryl, with his deep love for the game of football, became a football official (referee) in his spare time. He found joy in staying connected to football and contributing to it in this meaningful way. Darryl will be fondly remembered for his love of music, especially the smooth sounds of Sade and Frankie Beverly and Maze, as well as his passion for football, particularly his unwavering support for his favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys.
His humorous, warm, and consistent nature will continue to impact all who crossed his path, and his charming and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
