David Lee Hammons was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 25, 1980. He transitioned to eternity on October 7, 2024, while peacefully resting at his home.
David graduated in 1999 with academic honors from San Ramon Valley High School where he played varsity football. While living in Danville, David was an active member of the Contra Costa County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Prior to his graduation, he attended several schools in several states because of his dad's career relocations. David adapted well to each school's environment, participating in sports, receiving various scholastic honors, and pursuing many extracurricular activities. He completed two years of college at Saint Luis Obispo and Arizona State.
David enjoyed a career that spanned approximately 20 years at the United Postal Service (UPS). At the time of his passing, he served in management as a trainer.
David was best known for his wisdom, sense of humor, ethics, and loving kindness. He became a believer in Jesus Christ and was baptized to demonstrate his faith. He joined the body of Christ to learn more about the Christian faith.
Those left to cherish fond memories include his parents, Henry and Felicia "Flip" (Whitby) Hammons; two brothers, Eric (Katrina) Hammons and Marcus "Whit" (Ayan) Hammons; his niece, Alexandria Hammons; two nephews, Andrew Hammons and Kamal Hammons; his grandmother, Martha Hammons; one aunt, Brenda Sadler; one uncle, Howard (Shelia Hooks) Hammons; and a host of other relatives, co-workers, and dear friends.
