David Olufemi Opaleye was born on July 4, 1955, in Lagos, Nigeria. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on March 28, 2021, in Dallas, Texas.
Affectionately regarded as “Femo”, “Olopa”, and “Opaleye”, David graduated from Igbobi College Yabi in Lagos, Nigeria. After graduating, he enlisted in the Nigerian Defense Academy and proudly served his country. He arrived in the United States in 1982 and went on to earn a degree in pre-architecture from El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. Several years later, David enrolled and graduated from the police academy and would enjoy a longtime career in law enforcement with the Dallas County Hospital Police Department. He had recently transitioned into a career in pharmaceuticals before his passing.
Among many hobbies, David enjoyed reading and traveling. He also delighted in storytelling and serving his community. David was a committed member of Celestial Church of Christ Canaanland Parish. He was also involved with the Eko Club, Egba Club, and Icoba Club (Igbobi College Old Boys Association).
David married his wife, Esther Opaleye, on August 16, 2016. The two remained united in matrimony until his transition. David will be fondly remembered for being a caring, good-humored, humble, and God-fearing man. His loving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Oladehinde Opaleye and Victoria Kehinde George; and siblings, Segun Opaleye and Muyiwa Opaleye. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Esther Opaleye; children: Olaolu Opaleye, Jeffrey Opaleye, Naomi Opaleye, and Olivia Opaleye; siblings: Oluwaremilekun Olumegbon, Kayode Opaleye, Tunde Opaleye, and Jimmy Opaleye; parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ogunkanmi; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues.
