Deborah Lynn (Baker) Oliver was born on June 6, 1965, to James and Margaret Baker, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She transitioned to eternity on February 6, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.
Affectionately known as "Debbie", Deborah was a proud graduate of Douglass High School where she began her journey in life. After graduation, she went on to work at Globe Life. There, she met the love of her life, Richard Dion Oliver. The two united in holy matrimony in August of 1992 and soon started a family of their own.
In 2003, Deborah and her family moved to Texas to start a new chapter of their lives. In Texas, she spent many years working at Skyline High School where she made some of her closest friends whom she loved as her own family.
Deborah accepted Christ at a young age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She sang in the church choir during her early years at Avery Chapel AME Church in Oklahoma City. She delighted in singing and spreading joy wherever she went. She later united with Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where she and her family were active members.
Deborah was an incredible cook known for her amazing meals, particularly her large Thanksgiving and graduation feasts. She also loved to travel with her family and was always up for a new adventure. She was a huge sports fan, faithful in cheering on her daughters at college basketball games and supporting her son at baseball games alongside her husband. She loved being outside in the country, walking the land with Dion, and making plans for their future.
Above all, Deborah was a loyal friend with a servant's heart. She was always there for her loved ones, no matter what. In hard times and in happy times, she was there to answer the phone and offer a listening ear and encouraging words. Regardless of the situation, her favorite saying was "God is still good, and He always will be."
A woman of remarkable faith who touched so many lives and brought so much joy and love into the world, Deborah's loving, supportive, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed. Her impact will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Deborah was preceded in her death by her eldest daughter, Devin. Those left to cherish precious and lasting memories include her husband, Richard Dion Oliver; daughter, Dr. Dominique Oliver; son, Drake Oliver; parents, James and Margaret Baker; brother, Brian Baker (Calissa); parents-in-law, James and Zella Oliver; siblings-in-law, Marshall Oliver (Jewel) and Angela Oliver; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
