Denise Ramona (Toombs) Ward was born on November 26, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the first-born daughter born to William and Doris Toombs. After six years of battling cancer, she transitioned to eternity on December 5, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.
Denise attended Lincoln Senior High School. She enlisted in the United States Army Reserve when she was 18 years old and served her country for 19 years before being honorably discharged. She enjoyed a long-time career at the United States Postal Service and retired after 20 years of dedicated service.
Throughout her days, she humbled her life to the Lord and remained steadfast in her faith. A faithful member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship where she was a member for over 20 years, she served in several ministries and outreach programs.
In her last decade, Denise enjoyed her obligation and service to the children of the Garland Independent School District. Among many hobbies, she enjoyed traveling the world and going on cruises. She also loved fashion photography and cosmetics. Her favorite engagement, though, was fellowship and good conversation at the dining table.
Denise will always be remembered for her selfless nature and her many years of service to God and others. Her loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Doris Sheppard; sister, Dertra Toombs; and brother, Darell Toombs.
Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband, Charles Ward; sons, Daniel Ward and Darrell Ward; siblings - Wayne Toombs, Lawrence Toombs, Derrick Toombs, Dewayne Toombs, Donzell Toombs, Deborah Toombs, and Dawna Jameson; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
